Virginia Beach's location in the heart of the mid-Atlantic provides great temperatures, all year long. Cool breezes off the Atlantic make those hot summer days just right. But, did you know that most guests visiting Virginia Beach choose to do so in the off season. In fact, over 55% of our Virginia Beach vacationers visit the Virginia Beach resort area between Labor Day Weekend and Memorial Day Weekend. The weather is perfect and there's always a great event going on. In October, visitors can enjoy the Oktober BrewFest & our Halloween festivities. In November & December, you can drive right on the boardwalk and view the spectactular Chick-Fil-A Holiday Lights at the Beach. Don't forget an awe-inspiring whale-watching trip from January-March! Year round, Virignia Beach is a must visit! |

| In the Record Books |
|
|
Virginia Beach is highlighted in The Guiness Book of World Records as "The
World's Longest Pleasure Beach." It's no wonder. With a 3-mile
concrete oceanfront boardwalk and a recently widened 300-foot sandy beach,
Virginia Beach Guests can enjoy lazy days in the sand, brisk strolls on the
boardwalk, and people-watching on a nearby bench. |

| Winter Whale Watching |
|
|
When most people think of Virginia Beach, they don't think of humpback whales
breaching out of the water. Luckily for us, each year the Humpback whales
migrate to the food-rich mouth of the Chesapeake Bay for their annual
retreat. The peak season to catch a glimpse is in the wintertime, between
January and mid-March. According to the Virginia Aquarium, visitors on
their whale-watching boat trips are seeing the majestic creatures in action 100%
of the time. What a truly amazing and awe-inspiring sight! |

| In the News! |
|
|
Virginia Beach is constantly featured in the news and touted as a great family
destination. In 2008, Forbes
magazine gave the second recent "green" accolade to Virginia
Beach, ranking the city No. 10 on its "America's Best
Cities for the Outdoors" list and, in the June/July 2008
print issue of Best Life magazine, the Beach is ranked No. 2 on its "100 Best
Places to Raise a Family" list. Check out what the Washington Post
had to say in an article dated September 5, 2007: "Why go:
Summer lingers longer in Virginia Beach than in most seaside towns within a
short drive of the District. Temperatures: Virginia Beach
can top 80 in September, with lows in the mid-60s. October ranges from the
low to mid-70s during the day and mid-50s at night. Water temps are in the
mid-to upper 70s in September and October ... Don't Miss: Even
the god of the sea needs his last hurrah. The Neptune Festival through the
month includes a sand-sculpting contest, a regatta, concerts and a wine tasting.
Other Events: Sept. 14-16 is the annual Blues at the Beach event,
which includes workshops for musicians and a "blues cruise." Most events
are free..." |
